Hey All
I am playing with this idea... I have a pair of 240 diesels, 1981 and 1982 to make a nice project, neither run, both are four speed standard. I would like to cram a five cylinder 3.0 turbo diesel (617), will it work without modifications? (other then swapping parts) I realize the driveshaft would be different and transmission location (I assume with a longer motor) or is the engine simply more forward, thus the trans location is the same? Anybody have any input? I would REALLY love a manual turbo diesl!!! Thanks, Greg |
I've been dreaming of doing the conversion for a while. The trans will bolt on, but the location is not the same. Therefore, you will have to modify the shift rods and the drive shaft. Do a search on the subject, someone posted a link to a site with a w123 turbo with a 4 or 5 spd conversion.
