Got another one, W123 Euro Wagon

Brought home my new 300TD this morning from DC, what a fun trip that was

The car ran like a champ, aside from the fact the engine mounts are long gone and the vibration massaged my tired backside all the way home.

Its a 1984 300TD Euro wagon WITH the turbo 617 in it. How nice
It has some strange features, reminds me of Alfie's euro 300TD from the GTG's.
It's cream exterior with tan interior, cloth seats, manual climate control, a/c, manual sunroof, power front windows, manual rear windows, and something that Brian Carlton can appreciate: NO EGR

No pics yet... its in desperate need of a cleaning.

i guess, then, that neons with rear cranks and power fronts are semi-normal? i always thought it very strange.

so much so... that i couldnt be bothered to buy a sedan, i got the coupe instead-- 2 power windows=)

a manual sunroof sure sounds nice!

Good find, John!! No EGR! Yehey! Post pics... not many Euro-W123 turbodiesels out there!! Rare indeed!!! Ask some of the Europeans overseas, they know!! That's how desirable these OM617.952 S123's are...

...BTW, all W123 wagons had manual sunroof (no place to put power mechanism in it...) CHEERS!

OK, Ive realized the mileage definitly cannot be 244K as the odo shows. On the speedo, at 55mph I was actually doing 70. At 75 mph, I was passing cars like they were standing still. The mileage on the title, issued on 10/29/04 was only 74,380 miles. I dont think he put on over 150K in that little amount of time since then...

Alfie---Missing one important feature that your euro has....the tow hitch!

So John...what do you plan on doing with all these MBZ's? Taxi cab company?

I know a lady that has a euro td. Been working on her for a couple years now to sell it to me.

Cheers,

Bill

Now THAT's a good candidate for some fine restoration by Sir John Hef!!

Kidding aside, it's nice & complete...even has the hard-to-find cargo net/cover! What's the chassis/VIN? ...let's run it at the Russian site - check out the details & options... yummy!!!

Hey John, what happened to the reverse and rear fog lights?? And looks like it was upgraded with a diesel tach - so is it working??

AND AHHHHH!!!! I SEE THE BOSCH ABS UNIT!! -another rarity!!

That wagon is definitely worth the restoration effort.... DO NOT PART IT OUT!!!

Yeah I thought it was odd for it to have the tach too, it doesn't work, neither does the fuel or temp gauges.

Its VIN is WDB12319312051641

Good thing I have the other wagon, the sunroof wont close all the way- the guy broke off the pull handle.....but I have another one!

This was the one mentioned in a previous thread with the 'plexiglass' rear window. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but still needs to go.

John, that VIN number isn't registering at the Russian site ... How about the chassis number on the firewall? Hey, maybe Ray can run that VIN on the EPC - and the options can just be decoded afterwards... You there Ray??

Nice find! You're worse than me with collecting these things.. I've slowed down quite a bit

It looks rather "un-loved"

I coped the vin from the title, I'l go write it down from the car next time. Lucky me to get the sunroof closed finally before it started raining yesterday. Had to swap out that complete handle mechanisim as the handle was broken off the original one.

The guy had said when he drove it, the car was his "office." since he had stopped driving it, it had become his "storage." The whole car was piled high with stuff up to the front seats, which we had to unload before I could even drive it. Suspension held good though, and no rust in the floorpans or rockerpanels. This has got to be my first one like that.
