300d

hi -
i am looking at buying a used 300D w/approx. 165,000 miles on it. what kind of things should i look out for with this vehicle? thanks in advance for your help.

what year? It would help us to know what chassis we are talking about?

Who has the most rust and still drives

Study the common rust points, don't be shy about groping each car.

its a 1986, w123 chassis. supposedly the car is rust free (located in new jersey), and seems to be very inexpensive given what you see these cars selling for on e-bay

There were no W123's in 1986 - the last W123 model was in 1985... if it is a 300D from 1986, you are looking at a W124.

does the radiator sit upright or lean back?

Yeeeaaahh... I thought about that after I posted, but you think a seller would say it is a 85 model even if it was registered in 86, or at least I hope they would. Anyway - there are many ways to tell between the two.. they are basically two totally different cars
