Stuck plug in midst of manny tranny fluid, w123 240d

Should've searched the many warnings in ealrier threads I'm now seeing before embarking on the job....

Manual transmission fill plug, 1982 240d-

Due to the clearance, I can't fit the large wrench in there that made the drain plug so easy to remove, and I'm just not strong enough to un-stick this plug with the wrench I have. I also noticed Larry Bible's channel lock plier suggestion, but again, no success.

Is there any kind of loosening compound I can apply safely? Any other advice?

many thanks

Fit some kind of a breaker bar on the wrench and lean on it. The pipe handle for my hydraulic jack fits perfectly for me. I had to use my foot to break one of those things free once. I was about to give up until it finally broke free. It's tough doing it on your back. Might need to jack the car up some more to give yourself a better angle of attack.

Thank you for the advice & support, Len!

Although that wasn't the way it came off, you inspired me to get my butt back out there.

If you & the other veteran members of the forum were to know how I got that plug off, I believe I'd be banned.... for life

For future reference... there is a tool which fits those plugs, the oil drain plug, and the 3rd member plugs...
I would call it a ' dog leg' wrench... it is bent a few inches from the end and has two sizes of allen heads on it... and then the other end has an box end wrench... mine has the MB logo on it... and Performance Products catalog shows it in the paper copy....

Thanks, Leathermang; I'll

get that tool for future use. And Len:

let's just say it involved a different use of the floorjack.
