out of the blue, my SDL wouldn't engage first gear!

About 10 minutes ago I came to a slow roll then when I went to accelerate the car just revved up and wouldn't move! It then softly engaged and would then keep slipping out of gear. Once again I came to an almost stop and then took off only to have it happen again. Well, I then drove the car down my street and on a short test drive and it drove fine. I didn't park the car, it just suddenly started behaving normally again. What gives? I have it a transmission service about 4-5 months ago and found no obvious metal shavings etc. The transmission is original and I think it was removed and resealed in '01 I believe? Anyways, I just wanted your input.

Thanks
David

I forgot to mention that, I did not check the level but certainly will. Thing is though...it doesn't leak a drop. I've always kept an eye on the dipstick and it's never dropped. It happened out of nowhere though. I'll let you know what I find tomorrow.

Thanks
David

This one can do that every so often.

It's like it gets confused at about 5 mph on whether to stay in second or drop to first. Sometimes it drops to first just as you press the pedal, but, it flares slightly and then bangs into first.

Very disconcerting.

i dont

know what causes that but it sounds like it could damage the clutches.

walgamuth, I'll double-check my cooler lines though I saw they were replaced in '00 (beauty of having records). I guess they could be failing now though that doesn't seem likely as last time I was under the car they still looked pretty good.

Brian, I'll check the fluid and drive it tomorrow and get back with the verdict. As always, thanks guys.

Thanks
David

P.S.
Brian, your compressor should be there tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. Thanks again.
