What goes in here?
ok so i have been looking at my engine bay and have a few things that are not plugged in at all. my digi cam is being RMA'ed so i will try to use my friends soon. until then i was just looking for pictures that had my components on them.
In the below shot you see the rubber hose that comes out and turns 90 degrees. i have nothing plugged in there. I do have 1 long black plastic small tubing that might fit in there, but there is another place it looks like it should be plugged in. gosh once i get that camera, i can show you all what i mean. Also my ALDA (not sure what that is) was extended by like 2 feet of tubing. can i just take all that excess out. what fluid is in there, and what will happen if i just remove the excess? need for priming of some sort? hope you like my art Dan

got a camera
well i got a camera from the neighbor and now can describe better what is amiss...
if you look at the pics then you will see what i am confused about. the wire looks green, is that a ground? there is just a hole where all the other vacuum lines come out. what was in there, and can i just plug another line in. i suspect that the hole connects with the Rubber hose from the IP. pour out your wisdom on my post  Dan

The 90 degree elbow is the intake for the vac. vent valve for the transmission. A black line usually is connected there that opens in the interior simply to draw fresh air instead of possible contaminates in the engine compartment. It will work fine the way it is, but I would re-connect the black line going to the interior.
The extra length of your ALDA line was added for some reason by the PO. Right now it is by-passing an electric overboost protection valve, this should be corrected as a safety measure.

Ok, when you post a question please include what model/year car you have. I can tell it is a 617 engine but little else.
On the white thing by your injector pump, that L shaped hose should be a T shaped hose and one of the lines (black if original) should plug into this "T" and the other end there should be a line to that missing place in the that rubber boot with the many lines. (this is the air intake line and they went for clean cabin air.) That other line that goes to the alda that has the funny looking crosshatch pattern connected to it is the boost line and the funny hose was put there to bypass the overboost protector that appears to be the following picture although I can't tell very well by the picture.

sorry i forgot to say what model. it is a 1985 Cali 300D Turbo. i need to find out where the overboost goes and need to buy some T's and X to reconnect it. not sure what to do with the wire though, just hangs there. the odd thing is that everything works, so it does not help me figure out what it could be for.
Where is the easiest place to get those hoses and T's, i will check fastlane. Dan

well i own a cali car, but i am living in Arkansas right now. so really comparing hoses via me driving to your location would be rather expensive.
I am a computer freak, and have built many custom watercooling setups for my processors. i only use AMD chips and the Athlon chip was AMD's most successful processor to date. The name just came from that. Dan
