Wink Transimission info.

How do you remove the transmission modulator valve on a 1982 300D Turbo (722.315). I have searched the threads, and found nothing to direct me. I'd much grateful for any input you may have.

It's on the left side of the tranny, about midway towards the rear and has the vacuum line attached to it.

There are 2 socket-headed allen bolts on either side of the valve- I believe you will need a 6mm allen key to unscrew them. They hold down a plate that retains the valve. Remove the plate and pull the modulator out. Installation is more difficult. It's hard to see up there and it would be easy to cross thread these bolts.

Clean the heck out of that area before you start. Get behind and around it. An old toothbrush in kerosene followed by compressed air should work. It doesn't need to be clean enough to eat off, but that area traps road sand/grit and you don't want any to fall in when you remove the modulator.

Hey,
You can damage the transmission if you replace the modulator without adjusting it properly.

I think it's 41psi at 40mph at WOT. (Wide Open Throttle). Or something like that.

Anyway I know the information is in the forums because I searched for the same thing last week.

I strongly suggest that you search a little harder.

Danny
