dlsmith,

Have you tried MB dealer for a new fuel line?

Its probably easier to patch in a piece of copper pipe or just rubber fuel line to fix it. There is practically no pressure on this line so its easy to fix.

NAPA, or any automotive parts supplier will have this size and type fuel return hose...Cheap!

But if you enjoy spending money, go to MB and they will sell you pretty braided fuel return hose that looks just fantastico..........

The nearest MB dealer is almost 100 miles from me. I went to NAPA and Autozone and they didn't have the correct size. Standard rubber fuel hose that is 3/16th inch i.d. is just a little big. I will try the 1/4 inch version next.

Hey,
You can buy hose here:

http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&cookieid=1KP0H7YR81L40W4YMA&year=1987&make=MB&model=300-DT-002&category=E&part=Fuel+Hose

Or if your '87 300D is the same as my '84 300SD. Which it may or may no be, then you can use this:

Sorry, I wasn't trying to send you off on a wild goose chase, but the fuel return hose on my 603 came from AutoZone about a year ago, and later, I bought the same for my 617 from NAPA last fall!
