Good place to find tools for our cars

I found this company while looking for a socket I need. http://www.samstagsales.com/mercedes.htm

Their prices are kinda high on some products, but it looks like most of the tools come from Germany and are of high quality. Just thought I'd share.

Dude, Craftsman .. lifetime warranty and available everywhere. Even QVC carries the stuff. They have a cool 14pc Metric set thats less than $60. I've been collecting them for 20 years and have a decent set .... ground down a few wrenches for tight spots.
Go Lions!

Snap-On is also a great brand.

Do the tools still come with a tube of K-Y jelly to ease the pain?

Damn! $570 for a torque wrench. I need KY for these tool salesmen!

Flea markets. I got a Utica torquer for $25. It's a $400 tool! Don't go crazy like I did on the MB special tools because a lot of them are not absolutely required. I bought the $50 27mm deep socket from Samstag only to realize I could have had one for much less from Sears or for 50 cents from the flea mkt. Would have done the same job.
One really useful special MB tool that isn't terribly expensive is the special feelers. Makes valve adjusments a lot easier. The Hazet wrenches are worth it IMHO if you can find a deal.

Armstrong is another great brand like Snap-On but again you need a tube of K-Y jelly.

Dude,

Craftsman makes by far the worst, most uncomfortable flat wrenches I have ever used. I have been mechanicing for about 50 years and can say that with certainty. The wrenches look as if they have just been stamped out of flat stock, chrome plated, and put on the shelf. There has been no effort to round the corners to make them comfortable in your hand. If you look on the side of the jaws you can see the lines left by the punch die. No effort made to clean up the product.

The fact that they come with a lifetime guarentee really means nothing. All manufacturers of quality tools basically have the same warrenty.

Try Blackhawk brand. They are made by Proto and are for sale at some auto parts stores. Most national brands of tools make a line that is sold at auto parts stores and is every bit as good as their main line.
