E300-320 Engine Swap
Hello,
My 1996 E300 Diesel has given up the ghost at 150K miles. At least two cylinders are very low on compression and the others are below spec. My mechanic is has gotten word that this may be common with this particular model year. I don't know if that is true or not but givin the choice I would prefer to drop a turbo engine into the E300 rather than rebuild the stock engine. Does anyone know if an E320 turbodiesel will fit into a 96 E300 without excessive modifications? Thanks for any advise, Chris |

I've seen a 2001 E320 CDI on eBay from Britain. That w210 was obviously the face-lifted version.
I've seen those E320 CDI engines on eBay rebuilt shortblock on eBay for over $6k. But then you need all the electronics, and accesories to make it complete. It would be an awesome setup, but costly.
