I really think he thought he was being honest. When I pointed it out, he couldn't believe it, dropped his price a little.

Anyway, that could sure make you think you were getting great mileage.
When you think about it you realize that it's actually the other way. If the odo turns slow, it'll seem like you're getting worse fuel economy.

Amen on this one! Run into that on my last sale on eBay! Guy refused to leave +feedback for me until I left it for him! I'll get him on the 90 day, last minute so he cannot retaliate on me!

EBayers who have joined the last few years sure have changed since 99 when I had my 1st sale!!

the whole ebay scene has gone to crap when it was first coming about i really had no interest in it because there was nothing that i wanted to buy but i think alot of the crap coming from ebay is because people are making thier sole living off of ebay sales which is stupid if you ask me. And also to any other normal person they would have noticed that there were inconsistancies in that ad. Also i try not to search for any item unl;ess it is local and i check it out with my brother who is a mechanic.

He's still lying though. My W123 300D gets 25 mpg at most. This is a 300D too, but an even older one, so I doubt it can even get the minimum 28 mpg that the seller claims. Gotta hate that 5-digit odometer. No one even has an idea how many miles that can be unless there are detailed maintenance records.

"With 45-50 miles to the gallon. You can't go wrong. "

heheh he was probably trying to say "it burns a gallon of oil per 45-50 miles".

the 1993 300sd:

The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith.

so just by covering ones ass with fine print(at least its not too small, i will give him/her credit for that) it gives them an out and they can lie all they want?

i'd sure like to see someone, at some point, blatantly use this to their advantage......

"this 1979 mercedes-benz 240d diesel is the ultimate transportation, it carries its passengers in near-silence and uses no fuel at all!

thats right!

this mercedes-benz uses absolutely no fuel!!!!!! dont you deserve a little luxury in your life? the mercedes benz 240d diesel is *the* most comfortable car ever produced, it is the quietest, the smoothest and most economical one as well!

the *leather* interior is completly unmarked and as such is in near perfect condition. the milage is right at 140k and these vehicles are known to travel over one million miles with absolutely no repairs necessary!

how can you go wrong with me, Mr iNeon selling you such a wonderful car?!?!?! i have been an ebay seller for a full 2 months and you can check my feedback to prove it!! bid high with confidence you will absolutely love this vehicle!

the seller is not responsible for lies contained in this ad. all photos included are for representational purposes only and will not be the actual vehicle. in the event that you are unpleased with your purchase, TOUGH ****; ebay will side with me, the seller, and you will be forced, by law, to complete the transaction. buyer will receive by email after auction's end instructions to manufacture his/her own lsd to make all claims made herein truthful.

The same car is back!

Hmm...same car under a different seller name? And the price went up from $3000 to $5000.

Still, "These Cars have been known to Get 28 to 35 miles per gallon "

As somebody else pointed out, a sticking odo would make you think you have bad mileage.

On the other hand, the odometer on the 1983 300D that I just bought is ticking along 10 percent too fast. Every mile marker that passes is 1.1 miles on the odometer. So, my first full tank of diesel (21 gallons) went 595 miles for 28.3 mpg. ... Except it really went about 535.5 miles for 25.5 mpg. About which I'm still not complaining.

The speedometer is fast, too, not surprisingly. But the tach seems to be on target.

300SD milage

Hello all,

Just as a new commer to the forums....what is an average milage for a 300SD? Before my odo broke (over a year ago) my 300SD with roughly 500K was getting around 24 city and 28 HWY. Was researching how to get more out of it (i.e. water injection, etc.).

Just curious,

Adriano
