Another entry. Never checked city/highway, but overall (90+% highway) ours gets about 27 with the A/C off, 24 with the HFC-134a-converted system going. It would probably be better with CFC-12.

For a W116 that sounds about right from my experience.

Instead of millions, the N/A 617 in this car can go for....a BILLION miles! What will they think of next......perhaps change the odometer to read in light years! What a moron....and a liar but not as much as the guy who claims that a 350SDL can achieve 30mpg.....

not just in the Benzo community....

This stuff is as priceless as the Dodge Cummins guys who boast about how they get 25MPG all the time. Doesn't matter if their towing or running empty or how hard they drive it. Or the '70s 440 Dodge motorhome that gets 13MPG. Yah sure, you betcha!

I know someone who has a Cummins 6 speed who runs his strictly on B100/B99.9 and gets 25mpg. I presume that is highway mileage but I know modifications were made to increase the efficiency. As for everyone else.....25mpg pulling a 5th wheel....yeah right

actually when my dad used to have his 94 cummins the best he got in it was 25mpg it was a stick. but this was drving all highway to school to drop us off and then to work right after. of course this is when me and my sister we alot smaller and all we had was backpacks with books and he didnt really tow anything or haul anything for that matter in the back. Later on our 04 dodge cummins got 21mpg at best the 12v cummins was much better than the 24v.

you could say him having the truck was pointless but i dunno my dad is crazy.

I had a '97 Ram 3500 with the NV4500 5-speed and 4:10 gears. Empty, it would get 21MPG all day long. It would get about 15 carrying a 12' Coachmen slide-on camper and 13 when carrying said camper and towing a 3740lb payload behind it.

When the crappy winter grade fuel hit the pumps in the fall, it was a constant 13MPG machine no matter what I tried to do!

on my 03

DODGE with cummins and sixer. i get a little over 20 running empty with the tailgate down and at 75 and 80. towing my 35' airstream at 73 mph i get between 12 and 13. at slower speeds better is surely possible. and i have only 42k on it so it may not be broken in yet. i find that the computer is not all that accurate so i always check it myself with the odo and long division. and i have checked both speedo and odo.

actually pretty close to what i get in my sdl. but the sdl is a lot nicer to drive.

I've emailed a few of them after seeing posts on this forum, two of them actually changed the eBay ad. They're not always lying, sometimes they just don't have a clue what they're talking about.

After all the crap I have seen on ebay I don't trust anyone on it. I don't think I will buy another car off it, unless I am able to go over it first.

Here's the most absurd mileage claim yet!

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/car/132268680.html

Ad reads:

"1982 MERCEDES BENZ 240-D 4 CYLINDER, AUTOMATIC,DIESEL, RUNS VERY GOOD, 55-60 MILES PER GALLON. NEEDS REGRISTATON. CALL ME AT 619-253-6116"

Maybe I will give him a call and tell him to halve his numbers and maybe he'd be more believeable.
