Angry Some broke into my car and destroyed my sunroof!

I am so pissed off right now! I was camping over the past couple of days with my dad, sister and her boyfriend. Yesterday we decided to go for a hike in Devil's Hopyard. As we were leaving we noticed a bunch of losers hanging out by the water fall. My sisters boyfriend made the comment that they seemed to be drunk by 10am. My car was alone in the lot with their pos Escort. Later I would find out another car had come to the lot since we left, a cool guy in a late model 330I. We had passed him on the trail and talked to him a bit. He said that he pulled up at about 10:30 and new for a fact that at that time my sunroof was intack. He noticed the losers hanging around and was weary about leaving his car there as well. I guess that is why he was parked next to me, fortunitly they didn't seem to bother his car. We came back to my car at about 11:20. As we approched my car I noticed my sunroof was pulled up and in pieces. Someone had taken a screw driver to it and pryed it up. Once they got it up they unlocked the doors but thankfully the alarm went off. If the alarm didn't work I would probably have gotten my interior trashed as well. Luckly the sunroof was the only thing damaged. I guess the trash decided to break into the nice MB and then when the alarm went off they got scared. Their friends were in the woods hiking with the keys to the Escort so they were not getting away. They must of thought I could hear the alarm and would come running, but I was a couple of miles away in the woods at the time. We found them passed out in their car and called the cops. Of course they denied the entire thing and made up some weak story about a couple other cars pulling into the lot ect. I was pissed without someone seeing something their was no proof and I couldn't press charges. I would have enjoyed dragging them into court. Or dragging them into the empty woods and beating the living crap out of them would have been nice as well. So the trash got away this time but I can take comfort in the fact that it is only a matter of time before they get caught and end up in jail.

Thats probably why I am trying to get my 85 300D back on the road. Its mechanically perfect but has bad paint and I dont have to worry about it...

I really hate to see people mess up something you have put so much sweat and spiritual equity into.

I cant blame you for being angry

Bummer, I'm sure insurance will cover it. Been there before, but they offender was mentally deficient. That's the problem with "fancy" cars, they tend to attract unwanted att'n.

ouch

Sorry about that man, why the heck would they bother to break in? Glad the rest of the car is okay. I hope your insurance does cover it. If the sunroof wasn't touched you could try dusting for prints since I am sure they didn't bother to use gloves.

There's not much else to do in East Haddam. Still glad I moved from there.

Bad paint won't stop vandals. They broke the rear window and stole the battery out of the 300SD about 4 years ago, and it was looking bad back then. Its not about how the car looks, vandals don't care about looks.

Man that really stinks dude. I've had my windshield broken out of my Cadillac for my stereo that couldn't be removed. (I installed it correctly) So that was a waste. Insurance deductable wasn't covered.
I also had a 280zx stolen from my business. I had removed the insurance on the car right before also.....That really stunk.
I can't believe people have the nerve/guts to mess with other people's stuff.

Too bad you didn't have your car rigged to explode if someone tried to break into it, that would have taught the punks a lesson

As a quote from the film "Pulp Fiction"

"Whats more chicken than messing with a man's automobile. I mean don't mess with another man's vehicle."

Editied for appropriateness

But yes...that really sucks on the vandalism hattie. I presume this was on the SDL? I am still waiting for the moment when the favor will get returned to the guys that randomly jumped us one night (drunk) and kicked me in the head from behind while I was sitting on a curb waiting for some more friends to show up.

Hopefully your insurance will take care of it

Sorry to hear that, Hat.

If it's any consolation, just think about the fact that these people are LOSERS. They've gotten no where in life, never will, and will die without the feeling of getting anything accomplished in their miserable lives other than maybe moving up to a double-wide trailor.

I've been the victim of vandalism several times. It really stinks.

My condolonces as well. It always causes you immense angnst when something like this happens.

I still remember when some POS stole the Mustang when I was your age. Pretty much beat the $hit out of it and then left it somewhere. Cost me a good bit to get it back in proper shape. I was going to school at the time, like you.

It's even worse when you have a lot of your hard effort put into the vehicle as you have with that one.

Hang in there. Time will allow you some comfort.

Get a pitbull and leave him in the car with the windows cracked.

Long as it's not too hot outside she'll/he'll be just fine, and so will your car.
