Perhaps the last owner just thought it was stuck in first gear by the terminal velocity? If it is a 114-115 type of body an examination of the amount of rust around the steering box and other important chassis points should be done. As for the stuck in first gear it can be a bent shift fork inside the transmission, jammed up linkage, badly rusted assembly at base of gearshift and other things are possible as well. eek: Like others on this site it feels like you are pulling my chain. On second thought why not just drag it out to the road and call mercedes for free roadside assistance?

Your the mechanic in winnipeg that charged me 800 smackers to change my volkswagen clutch and pressure plate the last time I visited that city after you quoted me 400 smackers. Your 20 or so co-workers just might be able to help you get that transmission working by using a good dose of ex-lax as a transmission fluid additive. Seems to get other things shifting. In fact if you take some yourself it will improve your own paperwork to no end as well.
