noob as you can get

72 240d its manual rusty at the doors and some around the wheel wells ect
geting the car for free 245,000 kms on it

its stuck in 1st gear whats is the cause of this
is there an online manual for this car? or does canadian tire have a manual for this car interior is leather in good shape not sure about what options this thing has have to get it home and get a good look at it

never used a deasil befor sugestions on using it properly so as not to destroy it
still have to grab it sat for cuple months bsteries is dead we got it to fire up but we shut it off doe the fuel line is leaking under the drivers area
from what we been told the owner who passed on some time ago whos family does not whant it say he drove it 5k a day was a deasil micanic and work at the mercadize dealer ship
climate is well winterpeg so not surprized about the rust

Ok, which forum member is this, really?

Anyway, there's no such thing as a 1972 240D.

But are you sure its a 1972 240D? 240Ds didn't come out until 1973. How do you know its stuck in first if the battery is dead? Is it a manual?

BTW- It's DIESEL, not deasil, and MERCEDES, not mercadize, I mean, both words are plastered everywhere on this board. How can you misspell them? Are you really that much of a noob?

Well, if you give me part of the VIN number, I can probably determine what model it is. It begins with WDB115 so you know what to look for. I need the first six numbers, 115xxx.

College kids used to do that to Ann Landers just to see if they could get a fake problem past the advice queen. It was kind of funny to see the old bags feathers get ruffled.
