Got my 240D back!

Sold it to a buddy a year and a half ago and he ran it until it wouldn't start- so he sold it back to me for half of what he gave me for it- what a guy...

Anyways, I didn't have it long to begin with so I am very green about alot of things. Its an 82 model: do these cars have a lift pump other than the one on the injection pump (where the primer mounts)? The reason I ask is because that was one of its problems- no fuel to the injectors but the clear fuel filter was full. So I installed an inline electric fuel pump to get it going. Then realized the valves needed adjusting. Did that and she starts and runs like a champ.

One other question I have is: the little vacuum switch under that small black cover on the valve cover: what is it and what does it do and when? One port goes to the firewall (if I remember correctly), one port goes to the injection pump (aneroid I think) and the other goes to a 2 or 3 port switch. I'd run a search but don't have any clues.

Appreciate any help- I've been following some of your discussions so I know I'm talking (writing) to the right people!

Joe
