fuel tank size

does anybody know the fuel tank size for a 1980 "euro" 300D? i thought i had it figured out to be approx 21.1 us gallons including reserve, so 21.1 total. but i drove around today on empty. and then with the reserve light on for about 40 miles and then filled up and it only took about 15 us gallons. which would mean that i still had over 5 gallons left to burn...does this sound right? the reserve light was on for at least 30 miles. does the euro 300d mabe have a smaller tank?

Sounds like a bad sender. My '84 and '83 Euro 300D's both hold (held) about the same amount of fuel; roughly 20 gal.

I have an 85 300D Euro (123 w/ a non turbo engine) and according to my manual it says (I'm Pretty sure) that it has a 65L Brandstoftank (fuel tank) and a 9,5L Hiervan Aan Reservebrandstof. I take this to mean that I have a 17.17118338 Gallon main tank and a 2.509634494 Gallon reserve tank.

i would also add that the reserve is included in the 17. whatever. i too have a euro book that came with my 83 euro 300d. i was too lazy to do the math yesterday when i looked it up. good luck with your euro.

That makes alot of sense. I can never seem to fill her more than 14 or 15 gallons.

thanks for the info guys,that makes a lot more sense, i think my tank size is also 17 gallons including reserve.
