I have a 1987 300TDT and the tailgate knob vacuum actuator recently quit working. The knob used to go up and down intermittently when the vehicle was locked and unlocked, but it no longer works at all now. I can still use my key to unlock and lock the whole car from the tailgate which manually moves the knob up and down, but if I am unlocking or locking the car from the driver or passenger door the tailgate knob will not move.

I suspect there is an electrical/vacuum system that work together since I can still unlock and lock the whole car from the tailgate. Is there some common failure point for the rear tailgate knob actuator? I figure it has to be the acutator or a leaking vacuum line.

I have tried searching for info on the actuator, but nothing much seems to come up.
