'93 airbag in an '87?
I installed a '93 (smaller) 300E wheel in my '87 300TD, ... should the airbag SRS be okay with that swap? IIRC the airbag is from a dual-airbag car.
Anyone tried this?

I have both cars you are discussing. I thought about it myself... I like the 93 wheel did it just plug in? were the connections the same?

It plugged in, wheel fit (pre-'94 wheels all fit). Problem is that I now have an SRS light on in the dash, don't know if it was on before as I replaced all light bulbs when I swapped in a new dash, and it might have been burned out. Front end parts are original (have vin stickers on them) so I know it wasn't hit/deployed, so either I have an SRS problem, or the bag is not compatible. I think that GSXR has done some swaps, I'll have to get his attention I guess.

I would think it should work. My first thought would be to check the resistance of each airbag, but that sounds like a bad idea... The 93 and 87 should have the same "power" airbag (IE pre 1998) so the trigger points in the airbag computer would be compatible.
