Thanks.

No memory anymore.

I edited it.

Nooo... this depends on the chassis. The W123 triggered the aux fan (single speed) based on refrigerant temperature. The W124 fan (low speed only) triggers on refrigerant pressure. I'm not certain what the W126 does but I believe it also is pressure based... would need to poke around the EPC on that.

Still dead

I grounded out my coolant temp sensor that sticks horizontally out of the engine block on the driver side and the dash gauge still doesn't read anything. Can I assume that the dash gauge is the culprit? That is assuming that the wiring is good. I checked it with a thermocouple and the engine is hot All of my other gauages seem to function just fine (no exterior temp reading though).

Anyone want to trade an old Volvo for an '87 300sdl?

You mean you grounded the wire, right? I forget what should happen when you do that... I'd check the wiring first, but it could be the gauge itself. They're not too expensive used, try Potomac German Auto if you need another one.

Yes, I grounded the wire on the chassis, I've heard that should cause the gauge on the dash to rise. I'll check the wiring all the way back to the dash, the underhood wiring looked good. Is there anyway to check the dash gauge? Perhaps for continuity? Thanks for the parts resource.
