Not untill they are forced to park their vehicles altogether. Far too many people refuse to acknowledge that slowing down will reduce their fuel costs,.

I believe the H2 has a place as well, crawling up and down mountians! Not cars in parking lots.
A point I've been trying to get across....WTF do people in south Florida where it is as flat as Patti Smith...(love her) need to have these monsters ??? It seems like 80% of the cars on the road are SUV types and Hummers too....WTF!!! This is Boca Raton, FL....The only hill for 500miles is the landfilll in Pompano ....so drive up to the top and leave them all there.....

A guy with a DUAL TANK H1 diesel hummer came in and filled up on the other side of the pump the other day while I was there filling....he had that pump going at full flow between those two tanks for probably 10 mins!! (dual caps on the side of the thing! ) Of course the open top hummer was completely spotless, its probably never even driven on grass.... I know a person my age with one (her parent is Huge at GM....) and she says "oh yeah like 12mpg or so".... I have no doubt he bought like 75-80 gallons of diesel while he was sitting there. Insane. I bought....less than 20....

Sounds like it is time for me to sell my 240D

It smokes when you start it (valve stem seals I hear) and could use a set of tires but for 3-4k I would let someone enjoy cheaper fuel

I sure do remember the Rambler and the standard joke that went with it. And our gas station does still have an attendant! It also closes at 12 on Sat. and doesn't open until 6 a.m. Mon.

As for your second question....I am no doubt a lead foot driver. FYI no Suburbans. This latest round of price increases HAS made me drive easier. Now I am leading the line down the road! I used to drive around just for pleasure on the weekends but no more. Only necessary trips for me. I do still see many others who carry on with their old lead foot ways however...

Cheers,

Bill

The real Hummers are very nice, but the mileage is poor. Whoever buys a $100k truck probably isn't worried about fuel costs.

You don't buy a Hummer for fuel mileage.

We were driving the other day, three lanes in city with a 40 MPH limit, being passed right and left . They were speeding to the next stop light where we would meet up with them again, and then it was off to the races until the next light, I didn't even have to stop while they were waiting for several seconds at the light. Then I noticed how many of these vehicles were carring only one passenger. Try this some time stand at an intersection, on the sidewalk of course, and count how many cars going by have only one passenger, it's amazing.

Standing at intersections around here you'll always see one driver. Tractors only have one seat.

Cheers,

Bill

Had a bunch of American's growing up. Dad would get them cheap, fix them and sell them again. My favorite was a brown 2dr with three on the tree and a white/black interior.

As for the 6 car comment, I don't see what's wrong with only 6. Heck, I've got 12.
We got smarter as the prices rose though, and only drive the 300D and the Del Sol on a daily basis. The V8 gas hogs are sitting there, taking up garage space.

Well at least there's no wondering why your username is what it is. Wouldn't want to be you come time to renew registration and insurance.

Driving a H2 on the paved road is like going to a dinner party in a SCUBA suit.

Heck...he makes me want to become his insurance agent.

One other thing....with gassers you also have to pass emissions every year [in most locations].

Cheers,

Bill
