Any other sites that have the shop manual files to download?

I've been trying to download some of the files from skinnerbox.steaky but their site seems to be slow like dial up. Are there any other sites that have files for the 124?

Skiinerbox doesn't have all the files up yet it seems. I couldn't check braingears since I don't have a flash player on my computer at work. I don't have authorization to install it either.

Skinnerbox only works in the 123 chassis section.
That's the way it's always been. I use it all the time as a reference on my 126.

The braingears site has the 126 section.

82- 300td tranny slip

Hi,

My 1982 300td 176.000 miles tranny started slipping badly.
Searched I think all threads about trannys and learned a lot.

Problem started after car was sitting in cold ( freezing) weather for two weeks.
When cold seems to run well. After 3 miles starts slipping. If I can make it into fourth gear it seems to hold up OK.
After tranny starts slipping I had to stop.Whining sound from tranny or converter.
Waited with idle for 10 minutes and car drives again without problem for 2-3 miles.
When it is still driving and I attempt to avoid slipping it shift to 4 and back to 3 and back to 4 very quickly.
Fluid level was to high , sucked 2 pints out and added tranX.
No difference.
Fluid looks good, no burned smell.
Removed 6 bolt pan. Very minor sludge around drain plug. Miniscule brass particles. i would think no problem for 170.000 miles.

My MB specialist says Torque converter pushes liquid out and causes bubbles.

Removed tranny. Pff , more difficult then I thought.
How can I test the torque converter? Does it have a clutch inside?

Can this problem be the B2 piston ?

Thank you for any advice

Johan

c280 alignment

Took my C280 1995 (W202) to the shop for aligmemt and the guy did not find the model in his system. There was only something like 126.03 XXX?xx. What configuration he must use to align the cae correctly? Thanks

You should post your question in the "tech help" forum. This one is for diesel-related issues only...
