I think you would know it. You are making incremental changes to the boost controller and you expect to see the change on the gauge. If the line from the manifold to the ALDA clogs, the gauge would immediately drop. Something would seem amiss to you, if you are paying attention.

One other option is to plumb the boost gauge right to the intake manifold. I think there is a plug there that you could remove and adapt a fitting.
That would be relatively easy to do and would allay your concern.

True

I guess you're right, you should notice a change when tuning the turbo...

As far as a plug in the manifold, that sounds like the best route, no cutting, tees, etc.

FWIW, in the SDL I put a rubber tee in place of the rubber hose between the switchover valve and the ALDA line. The tee slips over the nipple on the switchover valve and the hard line to the ALDA. Into the third leg is MB hard vacuum line that was easy to punch through a vacant spot in the bulkhead grommet. It's much easier to send smaller, stiffer hard line through the bulkhead than rubber hose.

What's wrong with tees? If you're worried about AutoZone tees, get MB tees.

Thanks!

Thanks guys!

Does anyone know of a good place to get boost gauges and controllers cheap? How about the GlowShift units (guages) on ebay? Does anybody know anything about them?

Also, what about the Voodoo II boost controllers? Any experiences there?
Thanks..

The boost controllers at www.dawesdevices.com are pretty good. Boost gauges are a matter of preference. You can get inexpensive ones at www.jcwhitney.com or expensive HUD projectors. I've seen a project in which a small boost gauge was put in place of the clock inset in the tach. I followed a fellow member's project and use a gasser economy vacuum gauge tweaked to display boost. It doesn't have graduations so I have to remember which position means what boost level.
