There are two pipes going down into the oil pan in this area, it should be clear which is which and which is causing the leak. The large one (I believe the one you're talking about) is the turbo oil drain pipe, which leads into the lower oil pan via a rubber gasket and is attached to the turbo via a flare of the turbo drain pipe.
This turbo drain design was one of the few engineering faults of Mercedes in these old diesels (in my opinion), and is prone to leakage. Repair kits are available for the turbo drain seals from www.performanceproducts4benz.com for $7.60, part #18-038 (just ordered it).

Also, to save you a lot of time and frustration. Do a search for turbo oil drain. Someone has already talked about a removal and repair procedure that worked well for them.

How long have you had this car?
I know mine was the same way the first year I owned it. Especially since it was a daily driver at the time. Once the more critical items were taken care of it was easier to relax and put things on a to-do list.
