Thumbs up awsome diesel!!

Just completed a most enjoyable 1000 mile trip in my 83 CD Turbo!. What a wonderful car!. I purchased this car off E-Bay about 1/1/2 years ago. The car came from S. CA. For the most part it was accurately described, other than the interior. I have dumped a lot of bucks into her, but what the #%^*, its only money. Just a quick run down maybe this will help someone out there, thinking about restoring one of these cars. Had to redo the brakes, new tires, shifting valves replaced (on top of valve cover?). The paint & body were in very good condition. I ordered the sunroof repair kit from Mercede's Source, & the vacuum repair book also from Mercede's Source, a great help to me. I replaced all the weatherstriping around the windows & sunroof (about $1200) adjusted the door windows, replaced the hood padding, she's so quite now on the highway. I ordered new front seat cover's & floor mats from World Upholstery in CA, very impressed with there products, I used there matching Palimino spray can dye to redo the rear seat & side panel's etc., wonderful match. Just recently (before my trip), I had my cruise amp. redone, & a new actuator from General Deveopment from CA. worked flawless on this trip. Plus I got 30-32 MPG , at a steady 65MPH, (quite hilly country). Anyway I hope I didnt bore you guys to bad, just thought you might want to here about a positive outcome from an e-bay exp. As you can tell I just love these diesel's, I guess I am ready to sell my beautiful 91CE gasser! I think I want to collect the 123 turbo's

Sounds like a nice car you have there, and you have really done some specific work to make it more comfortable and solid.
I have been looking at the sunroof kit from **************. How hard was it to install? I've heard the front seal is difficult.
******** Arizona has the seals cheaper, but I'm tempted to pay alittle more from ************** as it comes with pictures/instructions.
Welcome, by the way.

The cruise is definatley something I would like to fix on mine sometime, first I am going to try to solder it though....I know the acutator works, the amp just floors it when I turn it on , or does nothing at all.... It works flawlessly on the 83.....

I had the same problem on my 84SD and I have gotten to work by disconnecting and reconnecting the cable. It appears that cleaning those contacts was good enough to do it.

I have found that the only way it works is if I push it forward (off) then push it up for a count of "one thous" (nope, don't finish with the and....)

sometimes it won't work, but 95% of the time it will....cheap fix if it works for you too!
