First batch of 80/20 blend today
I test drove the 300d today on my first batch of 80/20 WVO/RUG blend today. All I can say is wow. I can't believe that this actually works. The only thing I noticed was that on the cold start this morning it ran rough for about 20 sec., but after warming up it never missed a beat. I have my own method of mixing & filtering. I let the oil settle for a couple of weeks first, and then siphoned off the top layer, came out pretty clean. I then mixed in the gas, and then ran it through my Goldenrod filter. 3 gallons took about 2 min to run through. I mixed in the gas first to help it run through the filter better. Over all I'm very pleased with the initial results.

Hmmm...gasoline in a diesel engine
Have you tried a blend with Kerosene instead? I think I would feel much more comfortable than with RUG. |
doesn't the WVO / Rug blend cause wax to precipitate or is it the WVO/Kero blend that does that?
|
Doc: From what I've read it is a blend of WVO and #2 Diesel that will cause that to happen.
DG: I've been told that the Mercedes manual suggests up to 20% RUG to winterize fuel. I can't verify that as my vehicle cane to me sans manual. But, if it's ok for MB it good enough for me. |

the post glow kit might smooth out that just lit up idle.
i saw it here somewhere. |
i have mixed methane and WVO and they do not mix, i would advise against using methane. 80/20 is what i will be running.

you can mix it with air, NG...LPG but not WVO...it just sort of bubbles then is gone.... :D |

83-240d: The rough idle really isn't much to complaine about. In a few seconds it's gone.
I think he ment methanol. I drove a total of 124 miles on this blend yesterday, and never had any other problems, although I was just waiting for something to happen. I also secured a source of 30 gallons a week this weekend straight from the friers :) |

not methanol...a liquid... methanol would be a pricey blend. |
Fruitmeister,
I'm doing the same except with 90/10. This weekend I will be installing a heat exchanger. So far over 10k miles on 3 cars. Now that everyone is going back to school, I expect 5000 miles a month between 2 cars. One car had problems with injector coking. I suggest you pull one after 2-3000 miles and check. As it gets cooler, I'l increase my RUG. Keep us posted. |
