I picked through a virgin 300D at the wrecking yard

Last week I was calling around to the local wrecking yards looking for a 80's MB diesel. I found ONE. I took the afternoon off last thursday and went to the yard. It was the same light blue exterior with dark blue interior color as mine, only it was a sedan not a wagon. It was still in the staging area of the yard. It wasn't in the actual yard with all the other cars, and I was the first one to pick through it. I unfortunetly forgot to bring some of my tools so I couldn't get everything I wanted. Thankfully this wrecking yard is closed on the weekend as are many others here, I don't understand why, any-hoo. I went back today and pullled a bunch of parts that I needed, and some that I know I will eventually need. I don't think anyone had been there since I was there last week.
It was nice to have first dibs on whatever I wanted, and I knew the part would be there. It was just a matter of if it was any good or not. I'm sure I won't experience this again any time soon, so I will embrance it forever..he he

Happy Dieseling

Wrecking yards around here get very few MBZ's. I did manage to find a '79 TD in one yard a while back. It too was virgin. I had a field day with it. Got lots of great parts, even though I didn't need them. Unfortunately I've lost all my parts in a fire [lightning of all things] and now I'm back on the hunt.

Glad to hear you got some stuff off one! The yard where I found the TD took that car to the crusher within a week after I scavenged my parts.

Cheers,

Bill

Thumbs up

It's always a great feeling when you discover a car that's been sitting for a while or that has just been dropped so you can pounce.
