Oil should be changed at time or mileage intervials. At the very minimum once a year regardless of time on it. But on cheap dino every 6 months is better.
One year isn't that long. But it still isn't a bad idea to crank it for a bit to get oil pressure up.

Both of my vehicles napped for a long while before I picked them up... don't mess with all of that, toss in a new battery, and off ya go.

I too have run diesel fuel that was over 10 years old. Last year I bought a Mack truck for parts that had been sitting in a field for about 11 years, and my 81 300SD had no problems with this fuel. (I tried it because there was over 100 gals. in the tanks)
