722.113 transmission downshift

This is for the 300D. It seems that the kickdown switch works from 4-3 gear but I can never get it to kick down into 2nd and it goes into first if I pull the shifter all the way back to L. This gets extremely annoying when I have to slow down without stopping like making a right turn. It only downshifts all the way when I come to a stop. Is this normal?

I think they're picky on the 3 to 2 kickdown, mine does it *most* of the time if I kick it nice and good, but other times it refuses and stays in third. The 4-3 kickdown always works on mine. Going to L brings it to first?!?! It shouldn't do that....the absolute max for first gear is like 26-27mph....it'd blow the engine/torque converter if it went to 1st above that....I have done it at 35-40mph, and it rev's way up like a manual, (goes into 2nd) then if I keep coasting it goes into 1st and slows way down. I did it today in fact...its fun going back to S from L when its still in second allows for it go to back to 3rd and so on. At least thats how mine operates....yours should do the same.

L brings it back down to first when I'm at a low speed. I've never pulled it down at a higher speed. S takes it 2-3 and D finally to 4. I switch D to S all the time.

Yeah below 27mph it will drop to first, I experienced that before, WOW is that a feeling of engine braking, it practically drags the rear wheels!

I also go between S and D all the time.

Usually its: blinker, drop gear selector, switch lanes, roar past person, other blinker/merge back in, and move back to D

Would adjusting the bowden cable affect the 3-2 kickdown? Which way should I turn it?
