Smile Any Suggestions?

I finally got the 85 300SD working amazing, I played with the injector pump, did a full service, tested injectors and had to replace them, new eibach spings and Bilstein shocks and a few other things i cant remember right now, so all in all the car is in full operating order. I did feel a big differance after changing the injectors though.

What im planning to do now is start buying mods for the car such as Intercooler, oil cooler, tranny oil cooler and a full intake upgrade for now, any suggestions?

cost compared to gain... Big and None

Check to see if you already have an oil cooler.
Unless you are pulling a big trailer most of the time forget the trans cooler.
Forget the other stuff and concentrate on preventative maintenance.... your car will last for a long long time .

Do a search for intercooler with Ridge as poster name...
very long discussion...

I do have an oil cooler but I was planning on getting an upgrade, as for the tranny cooler I know i should get one because I do a lot of trips with a single car trailer and most of the trips last 4-6 hours at a time. As for the post it was quite informative so thanks for that info.

As I was reading the long thread about intercoolers something caught my attention and that was a manual tranny, I just want to know what car is it out of because that would be my first project for the car!

Do you mean Ridge's conversion manual tranny ?
There is another huge thread on manual tranny conversion ... use 'R Leo' as the poster....

most are

using 240 trannys, flywheels and clutch assemblies. although several have used the 240 fwq without any special balancing, the manual specifies that it needs to be match balanced with the flex plate off the automatic. oh in your case that would not apply, so i guess the safe thing is to have it checked for balance.. with the 617 i should be neutral balanced.

there is a 617 only fleywheel that was used on euro 300s. it is very very rare and can be ordered new. most use the 240 fw.

Yes, it is the four speed with an overdrive gear added...some to the original case, later it had its own case.

On my 85 SD there is a transmission cooler... isnt there on most of our diesels?

You may want to play with your wastegate and ALDA before going so far as to intercooling the car. Also, do a search on k and n air filter with whunter as the user. This is a thread that pertains to stock vs. aftermarket air filters and the long term effects of both.

I say spend the money cosmetically (if everything mechanical has been solved)

If you have the money your could intercool etc... but, keep in mind that there will be turbo lag because your lengthening the tubing that the "boost" has to go through before it goes into the engine.

Just my $.02
