OK, I gone and done it ...

I went to Richmond, Va., and met a guy today (another forum member, as it turns out) and this is now my car:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4583338110&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I do have some -- hopefully minor -- issues to address if there are a couple of people willing to e-mail me so we can discuss them offline. One or two probably need done right away; others can probably wait.

Thanks, Cliff, (so far, anyway!) for the car.

It ran out real well all the way home and consumed about a quarter-tank of diesel (a little over 100 miles on the drive). ... Kinda wish I'd have haggled you a little since the A/C wasn't working, but I've had so many sold out from under me lately that maybe I was a little too eager.

My little girl went bonkers for the sunroof, though; opened and closed it probably eight times on the drive.

nice looking car

i like the unusual color.

re haggling down. i once bought my first office building as an investment. shortly after i ran into a guy that owned real estate. i said "everybody thinks i paid too much for it". he said, "that is why you own it". it sounds simplistic but is after all a very good point.

good luck with it.

Thanks to all for the well-wishes and compliments. I also like the color, sort of a greenish-gold (although it looks more gold in natural light, with your own eyes, than in photos online) and I really like the dark green interior.

It reminds me very much, color-scheme-wise only, of a 1970 GTO I tried to buy off a guy as a resto project now almost 20 years ago.

Why does the listing say burgundy interior? Time for a new monitor?

No, definitely not time for a new monitor. If you read down to the addendums to the listing, it notes the interior is green, not burgundy. ... I wouldn't think those two were adjacent in the color list as you build the eBay ad, but then again, I dunno. What interior color comes between "burgundy" and "green" in alphabetical order?

When I was watching them in the factory in Germany coming down the line, SO MANY are black and silver and white, then every now and then a cool red/green/some other neat color comes along. At least 70% are of those three colors though. Too many conservative people driving them.

Ooooph. Green on green - how will you know when you vomited?

Color's not my "cup of tea", but the car looks real good. You will be different.
