What's the thickness of replacement pads?
The pads for the rear of my 350 sdl came. Pistons pushed all the way in and there is no way the new pads will slide in. Removed caliper and measured distance from wall to wall and subtracted the thickenss of the rotor. I am 5mm short.

Are the pistons fully retracted so that they are flush with the inside face of the caliper? If the pistons are protruding ever so slightly, you won't be able to get the pads in.
Did you use a C-clamp to force the pistons all the way back into the cylinder bores? |

I had the same feeling on my 300td once. Turned out I'd pushed in the piston incorrectly and torn the (original, 20 year old) rubber bellows. It wouldn't go in any further because it was binding on the ripped rubber. Naturally I forced it and made it work, only to squirt brake fluid everywhere when I bled the system. duh. Got new calipers and the pads fit perfectly.
Hope you don't have the same problem! good luck- k

I c clamped the piston in using the old pads. If the pistons move in anymore they'll be below deck surface.
