No Dash Lights

My car just lost it's dash lights. It is weird. I have checked most of the fuses and replaced the ones I felt needed to. The glow plug light, e brake light, and a couple of other lights in the strip turn on. The fuel light also works, as does the two blinker lights. The radio also works. What doesn't work: tachometer, spedometer, heating switch lights, and all the lights that light up the gauges. Any help would be gladly appreciated.

DK

The vehical information would help alot, but I think its the reostat (however thats spelled) bacicly the dimmer switch in the dash. Play with it and see if you can get your lights to turn on anywhere (move it slowly clockwise and conterclockwise)

If it lights up anywhere, its definetly the reostat. If not, I still think its the reostat...

I will agree with that too.......a common problem with many of these...a new one is not terribly expensive.

You can also solder a jumper wire on the back of the reostat to get full lights all the time. If you do a search there should be a write up on it somewhere.

You need to pull the cluster and examine the back of the circuit board. I just got my dash lights working again... had suspected the rheostat, but jumpering it didn't fix the issue. Apparently on my board some of the traces had gotten damaged (burned up?) and needed to be jumpered across. Does jump starting do stuff like this?
