82 300D AC Clutch blows fuses
Newbie first post, couldn't find any help via search... 1982 Model 300D (turbo) 120K miles. It blows the 16 amp fuse for blower fans and AC clutch. I measured <2 amps through the fuse when just the blower fan is running, but it jumps to 18 amps (!) when ac or defrost is selected. The clutch engages, AC works, (until the fuse blows...) What next? Can the clutch be replaced seperately from the compressor? I have the Haynes manual with tiny wiring diagrams. Are there better choices for repair manuals?

I have the same problem with my 83 300DT. It started after I had a new A/C compressor installed. Thought some knowledge might post a remedy. It will melt a fuse in a new york second. No heat and no air. Let me know if you find anything out.
