Valve cover on a 1982 300D, aluminum?
1982 300D
The engine is cast iron (right?), but is the valve cover aluminum? Thanks, Pete.

Cool, I'm going to polish it. Anybody know what can be applied to it after to slow tarnishing, but still withstand engine heat?

Powder coatings........however chip it or scratch it and then you will wish you never did it....but thats true of most coatings.
I've considered jet-hot coating my intake and exhaust manifolds......just haven't justified the cost/benifit thing yet.

Or, you could put some polish on it.
Gord's is supposed to be a polish/sealant for aluminum. http://gordsaluminumpolish.com/index.html Not the miracle cure-all they claim, it didn't do much of anything to my whitened aluminum trim, but it might at least prolong the shine a little once you have the valve cover polished.
