Which Heads Would Work On *87 Td

As you might know I need to replace my head since it is cracked and would like to purchase a used head if I can.

I would like to know which heads are interchangable?

I found a 95 s class diesel

I just would like to know my options.

Thanks

The 95 OM606 is a 24 valve. I dont think that will work with your OM603. Your head is a #14, I'm sure, and the #14 are prone to crack. Later heads were designed to better withstand fracture. You need to look for a #17 thru #22.

One good source may be http://car-part.com/ but check around here on the forum. You might put a "wanted" message in the "parts for sale" forum here.

I just looked and I see a 93 head off a 350 SDL for $701. That would be a later head, maybe a #22, but you would have to ask, if they know where to find the numbers, tell them the numbers are cast into the head near the #2 intake port. The last two numbers in a series of numbers will be where #14, or 15, or 17, or 22 will be.

The original head on the 3.5s through 1995 is the -17-.

You can use the head off any 603 but I'd stick to a turbo. All US 603s are turbos. If you use a 3.5 head, either use the 3.5 prechambers and injectors or keep your 3.0 prechambers and injectors. 3.0 prechambers have to be clearanced per gsxr's instructions to work in a 3.5 or any of the later heads.
