Could you explain how an electrical system failure with a diesel engine is any different than an electrical failure with a gasoline engine?

Listen..who cares about this discussion. Find another forum...

When you buy a diesel aircraft...we will discuss...Drop it, forget it....Who cares about it anyway..

If I may hazard a guess, an electrical ignition electrical failure will stop a spark-ignited engine cold.

If what is meant is a failure of the electrical harness in the aircraft avionics electrical system, but not the magneto, you are in the same boat as with a diesel, you will have a funtioning engine but are othewise VRF only with stick-and-rudder controls.

And I am skittish on loss of electrical with no backup system offered by the diesel... If you want to fly it and get the empty feeling..come to New Smyrna airport and we will fly it...and when the electrical lights blink on takeoff as they did for me and you have to shut it down on takeoff..it may make you think twice about a diesel airplane. I dont suggest to be a diesel guru when it comes to retro-fitting a perfectly good gasser to diesel. We had two gurus scratching their heads with my incident...I will stick to the gasser Mooney Bravo rocket 305...you fly what you want...I dont know enough about these diesel thingys to evaluate them intelligently...I just know how I feel...and what diesel aircraft retro-fitters have told me....and they seem to agree that there are challenges with the diesel. Oh by the way..they are attempting to market these things to third world countries where diesel is plentiful..or so they say...this is not to say that a gasser cant fail either
I think your confusing the alternator/battery electrical system with a magneto system. You should probably review your system knowledge.
