Turn signal and hazard switch
Are the turn signals wired in with the hazard switch. after realizing that my hazard switch was broke and working on it yesterday. I now noticed I do not have turn signals. I did have the front control cover off.

yes, if you have the hazard switch unplugged your turn signals will not work..
often the problem is just caused by a dirty switch here is some info on cleaning it: http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/HazardSwitch i have also found that sometimes the red plastic arms that operate the switch break off which means you will need a new switch... although i haven't tried repairing it with epoxy.. could work... |

hazard and turn signal lights
Why they did it this way, I don't know, but on my 69 220d the hazard switch only operates when the turn signal is switched on. This is what the manual says should happen, and it does.

Just replaced my Hazard switch two days ago. The red plastic arms were broken. The turn signals will not work if the Haz. switch breaks when it's on the " hazard" side. I just bought a new switch at the dealership for 32 bucks and I'm done with it. I was concerned that if I epoxied it, I would be fixing it again in a year or so. Since I plan to keep the car a long time, I figured the car was worth $32.
