603 engine head cracks/casting thickness.

Here's the deck thickness over the valve pocket/injector bore area.
This head cracked through the injector bore/valve seat.

Seems this deck thickness is marginal to say the least.Does anyone have a later head with crack(s) ?

IMO, I think MBNA should be replacing those heads for free since it's an obvious design flaw that MB has tried improving on by the numerous updates.

More or less the same place my head cracked. You beat me to cutting it apart, though. I plan to melt mine down and cast some doo-dads out of it, and was going to cut it as you did to inspect.
