Arrow 300TD Light switch

When I turn the light switch to the left on my 300sel I can turn either the left park lights on or the right park lights depending on the position. I was told this was a way to light the appropiate side of vehicle when stopped on the side of the road. On my 300TDT this function does not work. The switch is the same but it does not appear to be hooked up to do the same as the SEL. Can anyone tell me if that function is not included with the TDT or is it possible that it is just not working?

It is included in the 82 300TD. So check your system to find out what is wrong.

Like you, I have the '87 300TD. Mine works the way you described with left and right indicators away from the curb . . .

I believe fuses #3 & #8, both 8 amp, are within the circuit. As I have read several times, worth double-checking them just to get that issue out of the way. From there, probably a test light within the socket with your switch in the correct position and key out of the ignition. That last is probably not necessary yet I have always checked mine in the state they are designed to work in (car parked and locked). From viewing the schematic, it shouldn't make any difference since there should be power always available. Keep us posted with your findings.

Remember that the "standing lites" are only supposed to work when the engine is off and the key is in the off position.

AFAIK it's enabled on US cars from 86. Not enabled on some US cars through 85 but the switch has the detents.

That function works on both my 82 and 83 W123s.
