crankcase vent issue
I have a 1982 300d turbodiesel i have oil comming out of my oil filler cap,
somebody told me my crankcase is'nt breathing, however i cant find a pvc valve on my vavle cover. is there somewhere else i should be looking ? thanks

It should look like the tube from the crankcase to the air filter in this picture. perhaps the tube is plugged?

However......
There have been a few posts suggesting a possibility that the cause of this is from turning the cap upside down and the oil runs into the top of the cap. Then when you invert, the oil seeps out. Is this possibly the case?
I would think you would have many more major problems than just an oil cap seeping if the crankcase was not venting. More like oil coming out of every seal!

well the car has over 400k on it but it runs so damm good, so much so it runs circles around my 84 300d which has only 215k on it.

How much oil are we talking about here?
It could be something as silly as the oil cap gasket failing. Danny

crankcase issue
i lose about 1-2quarts a week, but bear in mind i drive about 900 miles a week, all highway doing about 75-90 miles an hour.

Are you saying it is coming out of the oil fill hole with the cap on it? 1-2 qts a week?

oil cap
I would guess it's not a result of air pressure in the crankcase and cam regions. That would more cause an oil-ladened gas. Sounds more like something a bit off in the oil supply to the rocker's, or, as mentioned by another, the gasket on the cap is bad.. Geez, that's a wild guess.

Also put some hose clamps on the breather tube. Really tighten up on them. That cut out a lot of oil on my valve cover. Agree with just replacing the oil filler cap - they're cheap.
