Is $280 for a set of 5 rebuilt injectors a fair price? (that includes a $75 refund for the core)

injector price

To have diesel injector's rebuilt by a quality shop ran me about $65 per injector (nozzle's were changed). This is pretty much the going rate.

depends on who is doing the rebuild..and if they are using geman nozzles or the indian ones...and how many bar they are balanced between.

$275 with cores/$375 without

-Bosch nozzles and seats
-pop pressure adjusted/shimmed to within +/-3Bar
-housing zinc plated

sounds good...
has anyone used them ?

I've tried maybe four times to get these from Colorado Biodiesel. He never seems to have the time.

thats because he is going through some difficulties right now....he is a board member here.

I had considered using them for my injectors but I read here on the forumt that Tom was having some personal problems and had been out of touch. I sent him an email about a week ago but I've yet to get a response. If I ever can get a hold of him those are definately the injectors i'll buy.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound harsh (not intended).

I was actually referring to back in April and May when I had inquired a few times. No digs on him though, we all have to get through what we need to get through.

In the meantime...I think I'll pick some up for the price stated.

Pete.

He's had some real tough issues (ones that don't resolve overnight)....do what you have to do...

Me I'm waiting till he gets back on his feet...I'm in no rush.

$280 sounds like a fair price, assuming they are properly rebuilt.

I'm in no need now, and hopefully when I do need a set, Tom will be active again. I hope everything goes well for him (I don't know what his situation is, and its probably none of my business), he seemed like a great guy when I met him in Boulder (bought some fuel from him while passing through), and he's been a big help to me here on the boards too.

peace,
sam

Yeah Tom's were the only ones I would trust. I went to length to get them from him back in more stable times. Also got an extra set. They run great. Hold out for them- just do a purge and wait until Tom gets the time.

300DPETE 11-03-2005 03:20 PM

Okay, will do.

Since there's so many people interested in his injectors, maybe we could all send him a deposit (maybe $20 a person) that would help him get set up to get us some injectors sooner?...or are his problems not strictly financial (don't want to get into personal issues, my apologies if I am).

Pete.

I forget how public his issues were so I won't repeat them....

problem is hiss equipment is locked up in storage right now....and he doesn't have space....and will leave it at that...since I don't know how much is public knowledge and how much is private...

Until Tom gets back on his feet we will just have to find other places.

I have a great place in New Haven if anyone is looking. Figure $50-$75 each to rebuild the injectors.

Maybe if someone (who knows him) PMs him we could find out how much he needs to get them out of storage. I'm sure 20 people or so could manage to pool enough funds to succeed in that, and use the proceeds as a deposit towards injectors (or a premium on top, if need be for Tom's sake). As for the space, maybe someone has some shop room to spare for a month or so in return for rebuilt injectors?

There's enough of us here that it probably wouldn't be to hard to help Tom get on his feet again.

Pete.

P.S. I won't press this matter anymore, hope he does okay.
