Don't use brake fluid! Its a special MB hydraulic fluid/oil which it craves. Only give it this....or pay later....

If you use brake fluid, you'll be spending a whole lot 'o money on repairs not too much later. Special hydraulic fluid only, please.

If you can't get pentosin or the equivalent from an import car parts store, look for MIL-Spec-5606A at your local airport. I got this info from another forum, use it at your own risk.

Here's the direct quote:

I contacted Mercedes headquarters, and an Engineer there stated that aviation hydraulic fluid can be used up till "about 88-89". Since mine is an 85, I didn't worry about the date, but it would be advisable for you to check. It cost me $24 for a gallon, they usually don't sell it by the can, they just charge a small amount for top off on aircraft (they had Beech's and Cessnas in the hanger). The engineer stated that the Mercedes oil is the same as MIL-Spec-5606A.
