Trans dip-stick for 98 E-300TD?
I just received the MB "Transmission Tool" (dip stick) I ordered from El Paso Tools on Ebay. Its for the 722.6 trans. on my 98 E300TD.
This thing is 47 3/4 inches long! What the heck.....I guess I expected it to be a conventional length dip stick. Do you use this MB "Trans. Tool" like a conventional dip stick to check the fluid level while the engine is running and warmed up?..... or Off.... I've never seen a dip stick this long except on an 18 wheeler!

It's made as a generic tool so that it cannot be left in the dipstick tube.
Slide it down the dipstick tube until it bottoms out, then read the level from there. Level has to be checked at the proper temperature with the car running. Mercedes really went out of their way to make sure that tube remains empty.

Did the dip stick work well...?
Hello, I just want to ask you if the dip stick you bought from El paso tools works well on Mercedes 722.6 transmissions...?
I have a 1999 E300D. Thanks Pedrodiesel |
