Part needed - can anyone help?

Hey all...

I need a stud for a 1985 300D. There are four of these studs that hold down the valve cover. On this car, there are two on the passenger's side that are longer than the two on the driver's side. I need one of the longer studs - one of mine is stripped.

I am hopingthere is someone out there with a parts car that can sell me one of these and ship it soon... online catalogs don't have them and the dealer said that he'd need to get one from Germany?

You can try calling a local machine shop and seeing if they have any metric studs in stock. If you remove the old one they can probably sell you one or cut one from threaded stock that will do just fine. You don't need anything super-strong to hold down the valve cover...you hardly need to apply any torque to it at all .

You can also try substituting a bolt that's long enough instead of a stud.
