Value question, 1982 300D

1982 300D

Okay, these is are non-diesel questions, but about my diesel.

What do the following two things do to the value of my car, if any.

1. Original paint, nice and shiney (no rust).
2. Rare (as far as I know) color that's sort of a red-brown or red-burgundy.

Just curious.

Thanks,

Pete.

No rust is always a plus.....about color is all about finding a buyer with a serious love for the color......doubtful many will pay a premium for a specific color.

The good original paint helps a fair amount. The original paint on these cars is high quality, deep, and can be made to look really nice with a little help, and people like that.

The rare color doesn't help much, since there are so many 123s out there that even the less common colors aren't that hard to find if you really want it.

peace,
sam

Thanks, guys.

There's no rust, except a little in the engine bay (rusty injectors).

However, now that it no longer lives in Florida, and instead resides in northern Virginia, I'm going to have to really keep my eye out.

The first mistake I made was jacking up the car with out wooden blocks. I have to take off the undercoating that I penetrated on the frame, sand, paint and coat again. Just small spots, but still...it's no longer Florida.

No rust and orignal paint are a big plus. I'd rather see decent original paint on a car then a crappy or 20ft respray.

I don't think a specific color will add to the value. If it was puke green it might make it harder to sell.

My 240D is 877 Puke.... I mean Petrol Green. I kinda like the color.

I have seen a lime green Euro 300TD wagon around here that seems to float from one tote-the-note lot to another. That thing is the most bileous shade of green I have ever seen.

i have had

a lot of different colors of benzes. about the only color that i didnt care much for was fire engine red. i like the color a lot but not on a benz. in a car of this age the color wont make nearly as much difference as the condition....with men. women are a different deal. very color oriented in car selection.

Sorry, I didn't clarify in part 2, that the red-burgundy color is the interior seats, door panels and plastic moldings. The color of the paint is white (my avatar).

Pete.

Personally, I like the red-burgundy color on 123s. However, I think the condition of the original paint will affect the value more than the color. A bad color may decrease the value somewhat, but I don't believe any of the colors are rare enough to increase the value significantly.

The red-burgundy is the interior color. The exterior is white.

I misunderstood. I don't know how rare white with burgundy interior is, but I like that color combo as well. It must be more rare than the white/blue combo.
