Who has resealed the windshield to fix a leak?

What method did you use (pry back with butter knife, spread cheese in gap, etc) and what sealant did you use?

I've cleaned out the hinge wells, found a rust hole under the batter tray and inspected everything else. The driver's side still leaks a little bit. Before I remove the windshield I thought that I'd try to seal it.

I assume by "driver's side" you mean the driver's side of the windshield. 100% silicone sealant, the thinnest layer possible. First apply the thinnest layer you can with a squeeze tube of silicon (not a pint size cylinder used in a caulking gun). Then remove as much as you can with your finger. 100% silicone sealant will adhere to both glass and the "rubber" seal the windshield presently has. This method will work without prying the windshield gasket open to squirt it in. If you do want to get sealant behind the gas, use the thinnest blade you can get your hands on, a 0.030 feeler gauge or something like that. Likely the original seal is showing signs of age if it's leaking. Personally I wouldn't pry the gasket from the windshield to get the silicone behind.

Thank you. I'll give that a shot. It is the driver's side of the windshield, as in the left side, not the inside.

Im not sure exactly, but I thought silicone held water... I'll do some more google diving, but I wouldnt do it, I would use a winshield specific sealer

yeah silicone holds water

out! it works just fine. i have done it many times... the first time on my 51 caddie. and on all my old benzes. i have replace the rubber gasket before too... and had to go back and silicone it when the new one leaked too.
