air cleaner vibration donuts

were these originally rubber mounted on metal? that is what i have "frozen" onto my bracket while the rubber isolators are attached to the bottom of the air cleaner. the metal pads are about the size of a quarter.

the new ones i just received seem to be all rubber ceptin' for the threaded rod.

no they are screwed in on both ends......what happened is it seperated...

yep. 2 of the three. i have the third pretty tight and the hose to the turbo tightly screwed down in both places.

i have to get you pics but there are these quarter sized pieces of metal screwed into the bracket and there is rubber torn off on both of them.

i was wondering for expediency if i could find a bonding agent to put the metal and rubber back together.

when the air cleaner is tight and in place i imagine the oil will quit dripping down the side of the return pipe and and ontp the driveway and instead flow into the lower sump where it belongs.

Vise grips at a time like this are your friend....a set that the jaws are not worn out on.

This is one of those jobs that are so cheap to do right its stupid to take shortcuts....

Don't forget that they have nuts on the bottom as well as being screwed in.

hmmmmm the brackets on mine are threaded....I didn't have loose nuts on mine....and I have seen 4 brackets...(all OM617 turbos)

The last time I bought these mounts they were rubber "sandwiched" between to steel disks. I've never seen them with out the disk under the threaded rod. Did you buy OEM mounts?

Make sure you also install the heat shields that go under the mounts. They look like little steel cups with a hole in the bottom for the threaded rods. They should help keep the mounts from being degraded by the heat. The are cheap at the dealer.

BTW, my brackets are threaded, but they also had nuts installed under the bracket. I suspect many people don't bother to replace the nuts.

hmmmmm all.

bought oem parts. they have metal discs top and bottom.

didn't find any nuts on the underside of the bracket. they threaded right in like bhd said.

they are installed after a little wd40, a few lite hammer taps and properly applied leverage with the vise grips.

now to start the car and loosen the whole thing up again.

i even did it over again to get the oil return line connected. hopefully no more oil on driveway.
