1990 300d
So everyone here has/talks about 80's diesels. Is there a reason people avoid later model years? Is it a mistake to look at a 1990 300D? I have found one I like with 230000 miles, I had a buyers inspection done and the problems were a little oil leaking from the rear main seal, something loose with the steering (supposedly not a big deal), one window doesn't roll down, and there is slight slippage under heavy load in the transmission. It feels like it drives great, very smooth, enough power... the turbo had just been tuned and adjusted, and a bunch of vacuum lines and fuel lines replaced. asking 6500. Anyone wanna weigh in?

Is it a US car? I thought MB offered the 300D through 85 then in 87 and again from 91-93.
Price is high for a car with 230K miles and needing the kind of work mentioned. If it has a documented service history and you're looking for a keeper then you're better off paying that much for it now than be surprised with repair bills later. It's a mistake to compete with the folks in this forum looking for a deal. It's not a mistake to buy the overpriced ones Sixto 87 300SDL |

The 2.5 turbos were available from 90-93. I agree with Sixto, $6500 is a bit much for a 230K car in less than perfect condition. I'd think more like 4-5k for an example fitting your description.
