Question Is a 1978 240D a w123?

Greetings All,

As you can tell, I am new to the wonderful world of Benz. I have recently purchased a 1983 300D and love it. Immaculate interior, runs super, 239,000 miles, A/C cold, heater has a mind of its own. Definite vacuum leak to door locks, plugged line for now. Definitely interested in 4 speed conversion. Checking on a possible 240D donor but it is a 1978. Is this a w123 or am I out of luck. Haven't heard from the owner yet so not even sure it is a 4 speed. Wanted to know if it was worth talking to him yet or not.

Thanks!
